Accurately monitor your rainfall remotely with the Farmo Rain Gauge. This rain gauge will measure rainfall and send data to your dashboard or alerts directly via email or SMS. Rainfall is updated every 15 minutes with the NB-IoT version or every hour with the LoRaWAN version.

Features a patented single spoon tipping bucket which is held in place by a hard ferrite magnet until the it fills with enough rainfall to break the tension and allow the measuring spoon to empty in one quick movement. Then measuring spoon then returns to its normal position, ready to once again collect precipitation. This means the counter weight always remains the same opposite to other conventional two spoons tipping bucket rain gauges.

The tipping bucket is factory calibrated to record 1mm per tip. If the rain gauge is over or under reporting rainfall, the calibration can be adjusted via a calibration screw on the tipping bucket, see the video here.

Maintenance required: Tipping spoon rain gauges are known as the most accurate of rain measuring devices, but they can be affected if spiders or ants get inside and build webs or nests. It depends on the location and the time of the year, but you should check every few months and apply preventive measures if required. Some customers use insect deterrent sprays effectively.

Data is sent via NB-IoT which is the long-range, low-cost version of 4G for IoT devices. The signal for NB-IoT travels further than 3G/4G, so if your mobile phone has any reception on site, then NB-IoT devices will work there.
